- After looking over my blogs, I think that I reached my goal for the most part. I was able to talk about the various chapters in great detail without being too repetitive. In addition, when it came to my non-textbook blogs, I was able to discuss topics regarding various topics within the economy and businesses throughout the country in a professional manner. Sure, sometimes my discussions got a bit boring and drag on at times, but overall, I'm pretty satisfied with how I did with my blogs.
2. How did your blog evolve over the semester? - Give specific examples
- Over the course of the semester, my blog was able to evolve in a few ways. To begin with, my business blog posts were able to expand as time went on as I was able to introduce new aspects of current business situations into my posts. For example, my first business blog posts dealt with specific businesses and organizations like Facebook's stock debacle. As the weeks went on, I began to expand to different aspects of the business and financial world, such as the Fiscal Cliff situation and the struggling Postal Service industry. By doing this, I felt like my blog did evolve a bit since I able to talk about a variety of things revolved around the same central topic.
- One other way my blog evolved over the semester was in the way of bringing in difference sources to support my discussions. In the first few blog posts, the majority of my information came from either the textbook (for chapter blogs) or a single article (for business blogs). As the semester wore on, I began to research a few more sources to supplement my primary sources. For example, in my December 2, 2012 blog post about the "Do Not Track" feature, in addition to my primary article, which was a CNN Money article, I also combined some information from a NY Times article on the same topic. By doing this, I am able to bring in new perspectives on a topic as well as provide more details about the topic for the post.
- I consider my best blog entry to be the one dated October 7, 2012; titled "Entrepreneurship is "Weak," Who's to Blame?" I think this was my best blog entry because it was on a topic I was really interested in, considering that I love business and I always wonder what it would be like to startup my own business. In addition, that specific topic resonates with me to this day because of the opinions and feelings that were generated when I read the article. I still believe that the government should cut back a bit on the amount of regulations placed upon rising entrepreneurs. How can an entrepreneur have a chance to succeed if they're being held down by the government? It is these types of questions that pop into my head that make me realize why I liked this entry so much.
4. If you had the chance to do it over, how would you approach it differently? Give advice to novice bloggers.
- If I had the chance to do all of this over, I would probably expand a bit more on my ideas and opinions throughout the entries. At times, I felt like I was just summarizing what the textbook or what the article was saying. So, novice bloggers should take note; balance out your entries to have more analysis and opinions rather than summarization. In addition, always keep up with your blogs on a weekly basis. NEVER fall behind, even just a week, because it can pile up and make your life miserable. Overall, novice bloggers should just choose a topic they are really interested in and have your mind fly from there. By doing that, I think blogs would be much more enjoyable to complete over time.
